Sometimes, fog rolls across the mountain and completely envelops The George Tasmania. Our Mountain Pod Retreats, decks and surrounding bushland disappear into a soft white veil. Familiar views fade away, sounds become muted and the entire site feels wonderfully eerie, secluded and surreal—as though you’ve escaped into another world.

Then there are mornings when the fog settles below us.

While George Town, the Tamar Estuary and surrounding valleys remain hidden beneath a sea of cloud, The George Tasmania sits above it all—surrounded by blue skies, sunshine and breathtaking views stretching towards Bass Strait.

From your private Mountain Pod Retreat, you can watch the mist drift and change below. As the morning unfolds, the hills slowly reappear, the water begins to catch the light and the spectacular Northern Tasmanian landscape reveals itself once more.

No two days on Mount George are ever quite the same. One moment, the entire property may be cocooned in mist; the next, the clouds part to reveal endless sky and sweeping views across the Tamar Valley coastline.

We can’t promise fog, clouds or sunshine—the mountain and Mother Nature make those decisions—but we can promise peaceful surroundings, fresh air and a luxury nature escape unlike anywhere else.

Make a coffee, curl up in the window seat or step onto your private deck. You may wake to a brilliant sunrise, atmospheric fog, rolling clouds, moody skies or crystal-clear views stretching towards Bass Strait.

And every now and then, you might just find yourself waking above the clouds.
