A Beautiful Beginning — Café-Bar Opening Weekend

What a weekend it has been.

After years of dreaming, planning and building — and navigating plenty of stress, struggles and challenges along the way — we were finally able to open the doors to The George Tasmania café-bar.

One of the most special moments for us was watching people step out onto the deck for the first time. So many faces lit up with that same look of surprise and awe — people pausing, pointing out familiar landmarks in the distance, spotting the Tamar River, Bass Strait, and the surrounding hills, sharing stories of places they recognised. It was incredibly moving to see.

Seeing people relax on the deck, enjoy great coffee and Tasmanian treats, and simply take in the incredible Mount George views was exactly what we had hoped this place would become.

With so many visitors curious to explore, we did relax our usual rule about not walking down the gravel path toward the Pods just for opening weekend. Going forward, we will need to enforce this rule to protect the privacy and enjoyment of our Pod guests, and we truly appreciate everyone’s understanding and support with this.

It meant the world to see the space being enjoyed just as we had imagined — people slowing down, connecting with the landscape, and sharing the experience with friends and family. Moments like these remind us why we started this journey in the first place. 🌿
