The George Tasmania Café Bar Re-opens for Spring

Our Café Bar reopening weekend delivered Northern Tasmania at its unpredictable best!

Saturday was wet, wild and windy. By Sunday, Tassie had changed its mind completely—warm spring sunshine, clear skies and spectacular views across George Town, the Tamar River and Bass Strait.

It was wonderful to welcome back so many regulars. To those who braved Saturday but couldn’t stay because of our very limited indoor seating—we’re sorry, and please come back soon!

Our refreshed menu received plenty of love. The new smashed avocado on Bread & Butter sourdough was a hit, the morning buns practically ran out the door, and our much-loved George Toasties and Tasmanian grazing boards paired perfectly with premium Tassie wines and craft beers. And lest we forget, Emily’s expertly made Ritual coffees were clearly very sorely missed!

The warmed tahini brownie with Van Diemen’s Land ice cream and freshly whipped cream was another favourite. Delanie and Tony bravely taste-tested our George Affogatos with a twist—caramelised fig for one, pepperberry and leatherwood honey for the other. Tough work, but someone had to do it!

Brooke and her lovely family celebrated Father’s Day with us, while handsome Atlas the German Shepherd finally received his long-awaited banana bread treat—arguably the weekend’s most important milestone.

Most of all, our wonderful young café team were amazing, as always. Their enthusiasm, hard work and smiles make us incredibly proud.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at The George Tasmania Café Bar—it felt so good to be back. 🌿
