Sunset Sessions at The George Tasmania 2026

Our first season of Sunset Sessions at The George Tasmania brought together everything we love about winter in Northern Tasmania — beautiful food, Tasmanian drinks, glowing fire pits, glorious sunsets and fabulous company.

High on Mount George overlooking George Town, Low Head and kanamaluka/Tamar River, guests rugged up, settled in and enjoyed abundant Tasmanian grazing tables, followed by a delicious souvlaki BBQ by Nik & Louie, fresh salads, dessert and Van Diemen’s Land Creamery ice creams — because apparently it’s never too cold for ice cream in Tassie.

Our Bee’s Knees cocktails were a definite hit — “strong” was the feedback! — alongside Tasmanian sparkling, local wines, craft beers and ciders.

A very special mention to Matthew & Jules Cooper from Fannys Bay Distillery, who graced us with their presence twice and thoroughly spoilt us with their premium Tasmanian whisky. We loved having them join us and share something special with our guests. We’re looking forward to our future collaborations! 🥃

AND THEN there were the sunsets — spectacular golden-hour skies stretching across the river, coast and countryside.

But the real highlight was the people. Locals, visitors, returning guests and new faces gathered around the fire pits, shared food and drinks, met new people and simply enjoyed being somewhere a little different. That’s exactly what The George Tasmania is about — slowing down, connecting and enjoying this beautiful part of Northern Tasmania.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined our first Sunset Sessions season. You helped turn an idea into something genuinely special.

We’re already thinking about what next season might bring.

More than a sunset. An experience.
